                            Editor's comments

The quality improvement processes discussed in this Guest paper have been developed for repetitive activities or processes in established businesses. They are not, in our opinion, suited to the general run of projects. That is, unless it happens that a particular project has a fairly long run of repetitions in one or more of its activities.

It is better that project activities are set up with a view to appropriate quality in the first place. Then, modified versions of these techniques can be used to prove the quality of the activity, even though the sequence occurs only once.
